March 12th

March 12th  is week two of “Fruitful Gatherings”.   This week’s focus is  “The Practice of Passionate Worship.”  We will worship God for 30 minutes, followed by 30 minutes of study, before moving to table meal and fellowship in the Narthex!  All are welcome!  No advance preparation is required-all materials will be on hand!  We look forward to YOUR contribution!

April 9th and April 16th

Trinity will be joining with other Presbyterian Church (USA) churches in the One Great Hour of Sharing, special offering. There will be bulletin inserts with more information about this offering throughout Lent.  OGHS offering will be collected on April 9 (Palm Sunday) and April 16 (Easter Sunday) www.pcusa.org/oghs/

March 30th

“Math & Science Night” at Huffman Elementary is scheduled for Thursday, March 30th from 6:30-8:00 p.m.  The theme this year is Harry Potter!  If you are interested in participating please contact Rich Wilson at #952-1502.

Annual Meeting:  The Session of Trinity Presbyterian Church calls for the annual meeting of the congregation for February 12, 2017, following worship.  We invite all active members of Trinity to attend. The purpose of the meeting is for the election of Deacons, Elders and of nominating committee members, and receiving the 2016 Annual Report and the 2017  Budget.   Childcare will be available.

February 19, Sunday

Trinity Mission Team meets Feb. 19 right after worship at 11:45am in the Narthex. All people who are interested in the mission are invited to attend. We are looking for people, especially interested in our annual summer mission trip to our partner chapel  - Chapel in the Mountains - Anaktuvuk Pass.

Love, INC is in need of queen sized sheets, pillowcases, and blankets.  They may be gently used items.  Please drop  linens off in the Love INC basket located in the entry of the Narthex or at the office.  Thank you for your contributions

Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. -  Join us as we sing and share the marvelous stories behind the many Christmas Carols we enjoy during the holiday season.

January 13 & 14, Tuesday & Wednesday

MLK Weekend Youth Mission Immersion – This is a weekend retreat for 7th-12th graders and held at St. John’s Methodist Church in Anchorage.  Youth from around Alaska meet on Friday for worship and recreation and then spend the night at the church.  On Saturday all youth go out into the community and serve together.  The youth gather back at St. John’s for closing worship at 4 p.m.  If you are interested in attending please register on-line at: stjohneagle.com. Cost is $30 and includes all meals and a t-shirt.  All those attending are asked to bring travel size toiletries to be donated to one of the local organizations we serve.  For additional information please contact Danna Larson at #538-7313. 

Shower House in Need of Hats & Gloves! Shower House is in need of hats and gloves for their clients.  If you have items to donate they can be dropped off at Trinity in the lobby or at Shower House located at 240 E. 3rd Avenue.

The PC(USA) Pentecost Offering is being collected on May 15 & 22nd to celebrate Pentecost Sunday. Susan Lundgren is requesting your input for speaking topics at the women's retreat in October. Susan's desire is for our time together to bear fruit long after the retreat, stretch us some, draw on the wisdom of some of our more mature women, and knit us all together more closely with Christ.

Women’s Wednesday Morning Bible Class

The women’s bible class will resume September 23 from 10-11:30am in the library. All women are invited to join us as we continue The Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 15. Childcare is not available.

From the Mission Team of Trinity: The PC(USA) Peacemaking Program is sponsoring a Mosaic of Peace 2016 trip to Israel/Palestine. Participants will travel to the Holy Land, visit with real people who are actively involved in peacemaking and see historic places. Day of Pentecost

The PC(USA) Pentecost Offering will be collected on June 8 to celebrate Pentecost Sunday. The offering is shared at 60% on the National level to help with training for the Youth Triennium and Young Adult Volunteers (YAV); 40% will be kept at Trinity to be used for children and youth at risk. Last year Trinity’s Mission Committee committed their share to be used with our partner church, Chapel in the Mountains in Anaktuvuk Pass with their young people. www.pcusa.org/pentecost

Trinity’s Spring Clean-Up Day, 9am-3pm. Come participate in sprucing up Trinity’s exterior! This is a general clean-up of the grounds, windows, etc. and the beginning of our summer projects. Any supplies you would like to bring/donate (windex, rags, etc.) are appreciated. Grills will be fired up for refreshments! Look forward to seeing you here!

Healthy Women Healthy Families Mothers’s Day Project Trinity Presbyterian Women have the Healthy Women Healthy Families cards available at the Coffee Project table in the lobby until May 4. Join us in helping enrich the lives of women and children around the world.  When you make a donation, please feel free to take our Mother’s Day cards to honor the women in your lives.

Presbyterian Women have been involved in this mission project since 2001.  It started out as the Networkers Project.  The program has expanded from a focus on 4 countries in Africa to include other countries around the world where PC(USA) works with partner churches helping families struggling in poverty.  It is transitioning from a focus on health services to include initiatives that empower women and children, such as literacy training, agricultural development and Community Health Evangelism.   www.presbyterianmission.org

Hospice of Anchorage Compassionate Training April 12 and 13, Saturday and Sunday 9am-4:30pm Extend a helping hand and heart during life’s most challenging journey.  Training is free for those who dedicate 20 hours of service to HOA this coming year.  For more information contact Mary Koch or Hospice of Anchorage office at  561-5322 or volunteers@hospiceofanchorage.org.

The quintet will present a great concert of Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, and Original songs. Admission is $15 for adults, $5 for students, children 12 years & under are free and 25% of the proceeds will go to benefit Bean’s Café.

 

Sunday, February 16th - Reception for Marian Hill

Please join us following worship on Sunday, February 16th for a reception in honor of Marian Hill, hosted by her home group and bible study. We are grateful for her many years of service and history at Trinity, and will miss her presence with us as she is moving out of state to be with family. Be sure to give your best wishes to her on Sunday. There will be a card for her in the lobby.

 

Friday, February 21st 6 - 9pm - Date Night!!

This outreach ministry of Trinity provides a great place for kids to hang out while their parents get time for a date night. Date Night is a fundraiser for Huffman Elementary. Cost is $10 per child. Online Registration

Sunday, February 2 - 30 Minute Service - The 30 minute service is undertaken for the purpose of helping us to practice living for others in Christ's name. In other words, we 'go!' just as Christ commanded in the Great Commission. This 'free 30 minutes' on a Sunday is really a stepping off point for what might be an hour, a day or a lifestyle change.
